The Land

Territorial Acknowledgement

We acknowledge with gratitude this traditional territory inhabited to the northwest by the Algonquin people and to the southeast by the Mohawk people before Europeans settled here.  We acknowledge First Nations neighbours including the Haudenosaunee, the Anishnaabe and The Métis nation.  We seek a new relationship with the Original Peoples of this land based on honour and deep respect.

Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve

Theshold Forest is a private 25 acre forest located within the Frontenac Arch, one of Canada’s 18 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. The name “Arch” signifies the geology of the region; a band of ancient weathered granite mountains connecting the Adirondack region of New York state with the Algonquin area of Ontario. Because of the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River, the Arch is one of the few places species can migrate north and south in eastern North America. The region is the most biodiverse in all of Canada.
